The 2nd Asia-Oceania Honda Safety Instructor Competition 2024 was hosted by Thai Honda Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd on 29 February 2024 and 1 March 2024.  130 instructors from eight countries participated in the event.  We were honoured to take part in this significant event.

BBDC Internal Training and Competition Selection

The selected instructors had to undergo more than six months of intensive training and stringent assessments conducted by our trainers to prepare for the competition.

Pre-Competition: Training by Japanese Instructors

Before the competition, all overseas participants were given the opportunity to participate in joint motorcar and motorcycle training sessions with international instructors. These training sessions were conducted under the guidance of two distinguished Japanese instructors: Mr. Nakamichi from Japan, Suzuka Circuit Traffic Education Centre and Mr. K. Ujike from Japan, Motegi Traffic Education Centre.

2nd Asia-Oceania Honda Safety Instructor Competition 2024

This year, a new component ‘Proposing Safety Innovation’ was introduced, where instructors’ abilities to devise solutions for real-life accident scenarios and maximising the efficiency of their training methodologies based on their riding experience were evaluated.

The Motorcycle Competition comprised of three challenges:

  1. Course Slalom evaluates riders’ ability to navigate swiftly and accurately, requiring precise judgment to maneuver through a set course.
  2. Emergency Braking tests riders’ quick reflexes and mastery of correct braking techniques to swiftly respond to unforeseen situations.
  3. The Slow Speed Course and Narrow Plank demonstrate riders’ endurance and precise control as they navigate through tight spaces with stringent control over the motorcycle.

The Motorcar Competition comprised of three challenges:

  1. Course Slalom challenges drivers to exhibit fast and accurate driving skills, requiring precise judgment to navigate through a series of obstacles.
  2. Figure Driving assesses drivers’ ability to maintain accuracy and make precise judgments while maneuvering through designated figures on the course.
  3. Driving on the Slippery Course tests drivers’ capability to navigate through adverse conditions, requiring skill and control to handle the vehicle effectively on slippery surfaces.
