Safety Talks & Demonstrations
Bukit Batok Driving Centre regards road safety education as our highest priority. We continuously strive to raise road safety awareness for the community at large. Working in close co-operation with the Traffic Police, our efforts are targeted at educating motorists and pedestrians, focusing on children, teenagers and senior citizens.
Kindergarten
In “Road Safety For Kindergarten Children”, we include activities like songs, stories and games. These help children to learn the meaning of road safety in a fun way.
School Talk
Through road safety talks, quizzes and exhibitions, we educate students on how to avoid accidents by following a few simple rules when crossing the road.
Senior Citizens
Senior citizens are at higher risk of road accidents due to poor vision and hearing, and slow movements and reactions. The aid of Drivers’ Aptitude Assessment System and eyesight and hearing test machines enables us to highlight the importance of having good road safety habits.
Road Safety Events
Bukit Batok Driving Centre organized BBDC Ride Safe for 5 consecutive years from 2007 to 2011 and we continue to support road safety events organized by the Singapore Road Safety Council and Traffic Police by taking part in numerous demonstrations and talks highlighting the importance of safe riding and driving.
The events aim to achieve greater awareness towards safe motorcycling by inculcating safe riding through defensive riding, providing training and wearing safety gear while riding which aided in minimizing injuries.

Videos Screening
Case studies on road accidents were screened as these provide different perspectives to the riders on how accidents happen and how to prevent accidents from happening.
Pillion Safety
This station explained the importance of ‘Do’s & ‘Don’ts’ of pillion riding, e.g. incorrect riding posture and poor coordination created additional burden to the rider, causing them to be distracted. Riders are required the full concentration when riding on the roads so as to react to the changing traffic situation. Additionally, safe riding tips when riding with a pillion rider were demonstrated and shared by our BBDC instructors.
Braking Comparisons
Riders were taught how to comprehend the characteristics of motorcycle braking systems, aware of the pros and cons of front and rear braking, make better judgement and apply effective braking to prevent self-skidding. The use of various braking methods, and how effective the combination of front and rear braking can in fact reduce the stopping distance were shown during the demonstration.
Blind Spots
It is important riders should be aware of them being in the blind spots of other road users, especially of larger vehicles. This station displayed various types of vehicles providing information on the risks and preventive measures when being the blind spot of another vehicle.
